LegalZoom is a US company headquartered in Glendale, California. Their forms are built around US federal and state law. LegalPath is a Canadian company; every form is built around current Canadian provincial and federal Acts.

LegalPath forms reference the specific provincial Act for your province (Wills and Succession Act in AB, Succession Law Reform Act in ON, Civil Code in QC, etc.). LegalZoom forms are templates designed for US states. They cannot reference Canadian Acts because they are not built around Canadian law.

LegalZoom Last Will & Testament starts around $89 USD (~$123 CAD) and goes up to $179 USD (~$245 CAD) for the Estate Plan Bundle. LegalPath is $39 CAD for a single will, or unlimited for $99/year.

LegalPath provides the correct provincial document: Personal Directive in AB, Power of Attorney for Personal Care in ON, Representation Agreement (Section 9) in BC, Mandat de protection in QC. LegalZoom uses US "Living Will" terminology.

If a Canadian provincial Act is amended, LegalPath updates affected forms and emails customers who used the form in the last 90 days. LegalZoom doesn't track Canadian law changes.

LegalPath stores all customer data on Canadian servers (Supabase ca-central-1 in Montreal), subject to PIPEDA federally and Quebec Law 25. LegalZoom stores data on US servers subject to the CLOUD Act and FBI/NSA subpoena access.
