LegalZoom is a US company headquartered in Glendale, California. Their forms are built around US federal and state law. LegalPath is a Canadian company; every form is built around current Canadian provincial and federal Acts.

LegalPath forms reference the specific provincial Act for supported jurisdictions (Wills and Succession Act in AB, Succession Law Reform Act in ON, etc.). Quebec is coming soon after additional review. LegalZoom forms are templates designed for US states.

LegalPath stores primary customer records on Canadian servers (Supabase ca-central-1 in Montreal), subject to PIPEDA federally. Some service providers may process limited data outside Canada. LegalZoom stores data on US servers, which can be subject to US government data-access laws such as the CLOUD Act.

LegalPath protects unused purchases and additionally reimburses up to $100 in filing fees if a Canadian court or registry rejects a form because of a defect on our side. LegalZoom offers a 60-day refund window subject to its own terms.
