Important
LegalPath is not a law firm.
Last updated: May 10, 2026
LegalPath provides document preparation services and does not provide legal advice. LegalPath is not a law firm, and our service is not a substitute for advice from a licensed lawyer in your province or territory.
What this means
- The information on this site is for general informational purposes only.
- Using LegalPath does not create a lawyer-client relationship between you and LegalPath, our employees, or our contractors.
- We are not licensed to practice law in any Canadian province or territory.
- Forms generated through LegalPath are templates designed around the relevant provincial and federal Acts. They may need to be customized for your specific situation.
When you should consult a lawyer
We strongly recommend you consult a licensed lawyer in your province if any of the following apply to your situation:
- Your matter is contested (someone is fighting you in court or otherwise disputing your position).
- Your situation involves child custody, complex assets, or significant amounts of money.
- You have a deadline imposed by a court, the CRA, or another regulator.
- You don't understand a question on one of our wizards or what a form is asking for.
- You're unsure whether a form is right for your situation.
Most provinces have a Law Society referral service that can connect you with a lawyer for an initial consultation, often at reduced or no cost. We list them on our FAQ page.
Limits of our service
LegalPath does not:
- Review your specific situation or recommend a particular course of action.
- File documents with courts or government bodies on your behalf.
- Represent you in any legal proceeding.
- Guarantee that any form will be accepted or that any specific outcome will be achieved.
- Provide tax, accounting, or financial advice.
Accuracy + currency
We work hard to keep our forms current with provincial and federal legislation. However, laws change, and we cannot guarantee that every form reflects the most recent amendments. Before filing or signing any document, verify it meets the current requirements of your jurisdiction. When in doubt, consult a lawyer.
Liability
You use LegalPath at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LegalPath, its founders, employees, and contractors are not liable for any losses, damages, or consequences arising from your use of our forms, information, or services. Full liability terms are in our Terms of Service.
