Refund policy

LegalPath is built around plain-English paperwork and plain-English business practices. If something is wrong, we will make it right. Here is exactly how that works.
Per-form purchases
- Before download: full refund within 14 days if you have not finalized or downloaded the PDF.
- After download: refunds are only available if there is a technical issue, duplicate purchase, billing error, or a defect covered by the quality guarantee below.
- After 14 days: refunds are reviewed case by case and are normally limited to unused purchases.
- Processed within 5 business days to your original payment method.
Bundles (Playbooks)
- Full refund within 14 days if no forms in the bundle have been finalized or downloaded.
- Partial refund may be available for unused forms in the bundle, prorated against the bundle savings.
- Completed or downloaded forms are treated as used unless a technical issue, billing error, duplicate purchase, or quality guarantee claim applies.
Subscriptions
- Pro Monthly: cancel anytime. Access stays active until the end of the current billing period. No further charges. We do not refund partial months.
- Pro Annual: refund within 14 days if you have not finalized or downloaded forms beyond what a single-form purchase would reasonably cover. If forms have been downloaded, any refund is reduced by the retail value of the forms used.
- Premium: same refund rule as Pro Annual, with any member usage counted toward the account's used value.
- After 14 days: annual and Premium refunds are prorated for unused months, less the retail value of forms already finalized or downloaded.
Quality guarantee
If a court, registry, or government office rejects a LegalPath form because of a defect on our side (missing clause, wrong section reference, formatting that fails provincial requirements), we will:
- Refund the full price of the form.
- Reimburse the filing fee you already paid, up to $100 CAD.
- Fix the form in our catalog within 7 days so no one else hits the same issue.
- Log the fix publicly in our changelog.
To use the quality guarantee, email legal@legalpath.ca with the rejection notice from the court or registry. We respond within 2 business days.
What we do not refund
- Costs you paid to third parties (court filing fees, notary fees, postage), unless covered under the quality guarantee above.
- Subscription periods that already elapsed before you requested cancellation.
- Completed or downloaded documents simply because you no longer need them.
- Refund requests made after using LegalPath to generate documents and then submitting, signing, sharing, or relying on those documents.
- Forms or AI usage not purchased through LegalPath checkout.
How to request a refund
Email hello@legalpath.ca from the email address on your LegalPath account. Tell us which order or subscription, and whether you finalized or downloaded any documents from that purchase. We respond within 1 business day.
Disputes
If you are not satisfied with our refund decision, you can escalate to the Better Business Bureau or your provincial consumer-protection office. We will participate in good faith. We would also rather hear from you first so we can resolve it directly.
Promise
The legal-tech industry has a reputation for hard-to-cancel subscriptions and refund run-arounds. We are deliberately clear and fair: if LegalPath failed you, we will make it right; if a completed document has already been downloaded and used, we treat that as value delivered.
